The New York Central 0-4-0 Docksider Ready-To-Run set is the perfect introductory set for someone who wants to ease into the hobby. It boasts a sturdy die-cast metal steam engine and a complete freight consist, including a box car, a gondola with steel beams, and a lighted caboose. The engine comes with operating lights, an electronic reversing unit and a mechanical whistle, which give the young operator fun operation without the advanced electronics of many modern sets. Docksiders were switch engines used to move cars around a dock or pier during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They featured a built-in coal bunker behind the cab rather than trailing coal tenders.
