Model Railroader Product Review
The reviewer did mention that the speed performance of the K-4 under straight DC power at 16 volts was slower than they expected. In checking other production models of the locomotive under straight DC power using a variety of DC power supplies, M.T.H. could NOT replicate the speed ratings cited in the review. In fact, in every case, M.T.H. technicians were able to operate the locomotive at approximately 75 SMPH when providing 16 volts of power to the track.
