May 9, 2007 - Following up on last weekメs catalog corrections, in this email weメll correct some additional errors that crept into 2007 Volume 2, clarify some details that may have been unclear, and update a few items that have been improved since the catalog was published.

PREMIER STEAM LOCOMOTIVES

Page 79, Grand Trunk Western 2-8-2 USRA Mikado (Item No. 20-3284-1, 20-3284-2) is mistakenly labeled as Canadian National. The production model will be Grand Trunk Western.
Pages 80-81, 2-8-2 L-1 Mikado: Lehigh & New England (Item No. 20-3199-1, 20-3199-2), Cambria & Indiana (Item No. 20-3200-1, 20-3200-2), and Interstate (Item No. 20-3197-1. 20-3197-2) models depict prototype Pennsy engines that were sold to these smaller railroads. Pennsy (Item No. 20-3180-1, 20-3180-2) and Interstate versions will have high-mounted headlights, as shown in the large photo on page 80, and boiler-mounted class lights. Per their prototypes, Lehigh & New England and Cambria & Indiana versions will have a low-mounted headlight and two additional marker lights on the pilot, as shown in the smaller closeup of the boiler front on page 80.
Page 82, 2-8-4 Berkshire: Detail upgrades, not shown in the photos, will include smaller, prototypically sized smoke box hinges, painted valve handles and gauges in the cab, tender hatches that open to reveal Proto-Sound and smoke controls, and tender truck chains.
Page 84, USRA 0-6-0: All models will include hinged deck plate bridging the gap between engine and tender, not shown in catalog photos.
Page 89: The Pennsylvania K4 Streamlined Passenger Set (Item No. 20-3299-1), will be altered to more accurately represent the inaugural runs of the redesigned Broadway Limited in June, 1938. The streamlined locomotive will have an additional モBroadway Limitedヤ nameplate under the headlight, although the separate sale versions of this engine (Item No. 20-3297-1 and 20-3297-2) will not have the nameplate, which was removed when engine 3768 headed other trains. To more accurately reflect the 1938 Broadway Limited, set 20-3299-1 will contain the express reefer as pictured, smooth-sided sleepers City of New York and Imperial Park rather than the two coaches as shown in the catalog, and smooth-sided observation Skyline View with Broadway Limited drumhead. Sleepers and observation will be correctly lettered モPullman,ヤ the company that owned them, rather than モPennsylvania.ヤ
Page 89, The Pennsylvania 4-6-2 K-4s steam engine (Item No. 20-3296-1, 20-3296-2) will feature the same paint scheme as our 2004 version (20-3125-1) but will feature a new cab no.: 837 and is offered in both Hi-Rail and Scale Wheel models.
Pages 90-91, 4-6-4 Chicago and Northwestern E-4 (Item No. 20-3298-1, 20-3298-2): Engine number will be 4003 as shown in large photo on page 90, not 4008 as shown in smaller photos; detail upgrades, not shown in the photos, will include sliding cab windows, smaller, prototypically sized handrails, painted valve handles and gauges in the cab, tender hatches that open to reveal Proto-Sound and smoke controls, and tender truck chains.
Page 93, 4-6-6-4 Z-6 Challenger: Northern Pacific (Item No. 20-3273-1, 20-3273-2) version is incorrectly shown with oil tender; actual NP model will have correct coal tender. The Great Northern (Item No. 20-3272-1, 20-3272-2, 20-3278-1, 20-3278-2) and SP&S (Item No. 20-3274-1, 20-3274-2) versions are correctly shown in the catalog with a prototypical oil tender.
Page 95, 4-8-4 Daylight GS-4: As announced last week, an additional engine with Daylight colors and cab no. 4449 will be offered (Item No. 20-3303-1); tender lettering will be the small モSouthern Pacific Linesヤ in the top red stripe, as originally delivered and as currently seen on preserved engine 4449 in excursion service; detail upgrades, not shown in the photos, will include see-through trailing truck side frames, sliding cab windows, smaller prototypically sized smokebox hinges, painted valve handles and gauges in the cab, tender hatches that open to reveal Proto-Sound and smoke controls, and tender truck chains.

Page 109, Union Pacific/George Bush SD70ACe (Item No. 20-2828-1): colors and paint scheme shown in the catalog are incorrect shades and design, but will be accurate in actual model; more information on the prototype can be found on the Union Pacific railroad's Web site at www.up.com. The E-44 Juice Train was mistakenly listed with an MSRP of $799.95. The correct MSRP is $529.95.

Page 162: Milwaukee Road heavyweight sets represent the second incarnation of the Olympian, モthe Queen of the Transcontinental Trains,ヤ as it appeared from its re-equipping in 1927 through World War II. Hauled on its final leg into Seattle by a black Bi-Polar electric, the orange-and-maroon train included railroad-owned cars lettered The Milwaukee Road on their maroon letterboards, as well as a Pullman observation and sleepers lettered The Olympian. Our sets feature cars accurately painted and lettered for this luxurious Depression-era train as follows: 20-4089 (5-car set) includes baggage car 1025, coaches 3907, 3916, and 3950 (all lettered The Milwaukee Road), and Pullman observation Lake Chatcolet, lettered The Olympian on its letterboard and Pullman near each end, and featuring an authentic Olympian drumhead. 20-4489 (combine/diner set) includes combine 2104 and diner 5142, also lettered モDining Carヤ; both cars will be lettered The Milwaukee Road. 20-4489 will now contain two coaches, rather than a baggage and a coach as cataloged; both will be lettered to represent Pullmans, with The Olympian on their letterboards and Pullman near each end door. Car names will be Harlowton and Othello; Olympian sleepers were named after towns on the railroadメs Pacific Extension. 20-4289 (RPO) will be Railway Post Office car 2105, lettered The Milwaukee Road.
Page 163: Contents of Northern Pacific passenger sets will be revised to more accurately represent the mid-1950s consist of the Raymond-Loewy-styled Vista Dome North Coast Limited, the NPメs premier passenger train ラalso known as the Four Dome Train West. All car numbers and lettering will reflect actual cars on the mid-50s North Coast Limited, and as appropriate, car sides will feature the モVista-Dome North Coast Limitedヤ lettering applied circa 1956. A modeler buying the full complement of NP cars will be able to run a prototypical four-dome train, with a flat-top car separating all domes per prototype practice.
Item 20-65114 (5-car set) will now include four dome cars and one observation with North Coast Limited drumhead.
Page 164, Milwaukee Road streamlined sets: These sets represent the Milwaukee Roadメs premier transcontinental train in its final postwar incarnation, when it was re-styled by famed industrial designed Brooks Stevens and its name changed from the Olympian to the Olympian Hiawatha. The contents of 5-car set 20-65112 will include Creek-series Skytop observation-lounge-sleeper. The remainder of the set will include two coaches, one vista dome and one baggage car as cataloged.
Page 165, Santa Fe streamlined sets: Contents of the Santa Fe sets will be modified to more accurately reflect the Super Chief, the Santa Feメs premier, all-Pullman passenger run that raced from Chicago to Los Angeles in 39 ᄒ hours. Our sets model the final version of the Super Chief after it was re-equipped in 1951, with a consist that included a 500-series Pleasure Dome (advertised as モthe top of the Super, next to the starsヤ) and was frequently headed by a four-unit A-B-B-A brace of warbonnet F-units. All passengers traveled in sleeping accommodations ラ there were no coaches ラ and therefore the set contents will be modified as follows to reflect actual Super Chief cars: 20-65115 (5-car set) will now include one baggage car, sleepers Palm Star and Pine Rapids (rather than two coaches as shown in the catalog), Pleasure Dome 503, and observation Vista Plains.

Sleepers and observation will be correctly lettered モPullman,ヤ the company that owned them, and head-end cars and diner will be lettered モPennsylvania.ヤ Set 20-66119 will be sleeper Allegheny County and diner # 4420; set 20-69119 will be sleeper Imperial Pass and baggage # 6051; set 20-65119 (5-car set) will represent the Spirit of St. Louis, another FOM train: baggage # 6054; sleepers Colonial Congress, City of Philadelphia, and City of Fort Wayne; and observation Juniata Narrows with Spirit of St. Louis drumhead.
