Overview
Using technology developed and tested during World War II, Fairbanks-Morse introduced their first opposed-piston powered diesel to the industry in 1944. The gutsy H10-44's reliability and performance soon made it a familiar sight in railroad yards across the country. Although most of the H10-44s disappeared from the railroad scene by the mid 1970's, the locomotives earned their place in history by establishing Fairbanks-Morse as an important player in the diesel motive power industry. Now for the first time since 1995, the venerable H10-44 returns to O Gauge in the exciting RailKing Scale category. Unlike the 1995 edition, these models come fully equipped with the incredible sounds and features of Proto-Sound 2.0. Available in six different roadnames, you are sure to find a version that fits your yard switching requirements. FACT: The "H" in H10-44 stood for its hood type construction. The "10" represents the horsepower rating in thousands and the "44" is a railroad designation for the B-B wheel arrangement.
