The Norfolk Southern’s Veterans Locomotive is a rolling reminder of the contributions and sacrifice of our nation’s military personnel. Unveiled just before Veteran’s Day in 2012 at the road’s Altoona, PA shops, engine 6920’s paint scheme was selected by a group of 18 NS employees representing all branches of the armed forces. Equally important is the railroad’s commitment to hiring and training veterans; nearly 4,000 of the railroad’s 28,000 employees are veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserves
