Overview
The 400E is the most popular and most sought after of the original pre-war tinplate engines. The largest of the Standard Gauge tinplate steamers, this engine was introduced in 1931 and was an immediate sensation. The 400E is best known for pulling the Blue Comet passenger set (also available), but it is also one of only two steamers to pull the large 200-series freight cars, which gives you extra flexibility on your railroad. M.T.H. is proud to make the shiny baked enamel finish of this 4-4-4 steam locomotive available to customers in two classic colors: two-tone blue with nickel trim to complement the Blue Comet passenger set, and gun-metal gray with brass trim to go with our tinplate freight cars. The engines are available with traditional or contemporary equipment packages. Pair this beautiful engine with the Blue Comet cars or with your 200-series freight cars to bring this legend back to life.
