Overview

The 400E is the most popular and most sought after of the original pre-war tinplate engines. The largest of the Standard Gauge tinplate steamers, this engine was introduced in 1931 and was an immediate sensation. The 400E is best known for pulling the Blue Comet passenger set, but it is also one of only two steamers to pull the large 200-series freight cars, which gives you extra flexibility on your railroad. M.T.H. is proud to make the shiny baked enamel finish of this 4-4-4 steam locomotive available to customers in a selection of never-before-offered real roadnames: Pennsylvania, Southern, Southern Pacific, and Union Pacific. Each of these M.T.H. exclusive engines will pair beautifully with a 4-car set of passenger cars, modeled after the original Blue Comet set but with original paint schemes to match these special engines. Operates on STD-42 Curves
