Kadet Blue Std. Gauge Tinplate #3245R Locomotive - Traditional

By the late 1920s, America's deepening financial crisis was driving model train manufacturers out of business or crippling those still clinging to life. One of those on life support was the Ives Corporation whose continuing sales were buoyed by the production of beautiful, well constructed and engineered trains that stood up favorably to market leader Joshua Lionel Cowen. Yet Ives always seemed to be a step behind Cowen and often followed his lead on product direction and changes. One exception was the decision to invest much of the remaining company profits into the development of two electric type locomotives; a small economy box model and a larger S-type cab based loosely on a New York Central prototype. It was this latter model which led to the 3245 Electric of which two versions were created. These very scarce models used the same number and were described as short hood or long hood models depending on the version. As the moniker hinted, the difference was the length of the front and rear hoods. M.T.H. is proud to release the Ives #3245 in 2004 complete with all the sounds and action of Proto-Sound 2.0. Imagine the looks on visitor faces when they see and hear this beautiful locomotive creeping along your pike while playing incredibly realistic sound effects. In fact, its those sounds that will give away the fact this locomotive is a reproduction, as we've captured the looks and details of the original right down to every rivet detail and window location.
