Cardinal Special Std. Gauge Tinplate Ives #3242 Electric Passenger Set w/Proto-Sound 2.0

In 1929 the original Ivesr Corporation created the Cardinal Special, an "all-Ives" train that was made up from 3242 Electric and 180 series passenger cars.

The locomotive featured a steel frame, brass side and end doors and four-pane brass side windows. The combination of black body paint and red frame accented the brass details to create a striking locomotive that headed up equally attractive passenger cars. Each car featured all red sides with brass plates, steps and truck journals capped with an all-black roof.

The dramatic styling of the engine and cars captured the very essence of the Ivesr product line and typical of standard gauge production from this era. With its stamped steel body, baked enamel finish and metal wheels and axles, the 3242 Ivesr Cardinal Special is available in both Traditional and Contemporary versions.
