Overview
"Hey Fellows - watch what happens now when you press a button!" proclaimed Lionel's 1938 catalog, announcing a host of remote control features including new electric couplers for all O gauge rolling stock. The remote-coupler-equipped 2600-series passenger cars shown in the catalog traced their lineage back to 1933, when they were introduced as the No. 2600 Pullman car, No. 2601 Observation car and No. 2602 Baggage car. Intended for use with Lionel's smaller O gauge locomotives, the 2600 series was an inch shorter than the 2613, -14-and -15 passenger cars introduced in 1938 and three inches shorter than the 2640/2641 added to the lineup the same year.
Featuring all-metal bodies, trucks, wheels and axles, the 2600 series cars make an excellent complement to the 206E and 263E O Gauge steam locomotives.
