Burlington Northern O Scale Premier SD60M Diesel Engine (Non-Powered)

The first order of General Motor's SD60M diesel locomotive were slated for the Union Pacific Railroad and began delivering in January 1989. The 25-unit order featured GM's version of the North American Safety Cab and represented the 7th and latest order for EMD's high-horsepower, six-axle locomotive. The Safety Cab had undergone several changes in appearance with the transition from a three-piece windshield to a two-piece model one of the most obvious. Other changes include front number boards above the windshield and a window glass in the nose's front cab access door. The SD60M returns to the MTH lineup in 2003 in five paint schemes including a specially decorated Burlington Northern version from their 1991 tribute to America's Desert Storm troops. The patriotically decorated cab was designed by an electrician in BN's Springfield, Missouri shops and includes the Great Seal Of The United States on the cab's nose and 26 stars throughout the body cladding. Another 24 stars decorate the chassis for a total of 50 stars - one for each state in the Union.
