Overview

What the heck was that just flew by on the tracks? It must have been going over 100 mph! That's an AEM-7 and it has more horsepower (7,000hp) than the most powerful diesel locomotive (6,600hp) and travels faster than any other locomotive in operation on US railroads. Nicknamed "toasters" because of their small, shiny, boxy appearance, AEM-7's replaced the mighty GG-1's that once commanded the electrified Northeast Corridor between Washington DC and New York City. Today, AEM-7's pull the popular Amtrak Metroliner between Washington, DC and New York and represent one of the best examples of the future of high speed US rail travel. By offering affordable fares over quick trips, the AEM-7 has helped make the Metroliner competitive with airline travel in the busy Northeastern United States. Now you can be the proud owner of the finest O scale AEM-7 ever made. With two flywheel-equipped motors, the Premier Line AEM-7 will rival in scale power what the prototype does on real railroads. Despite the small size of the AEM-7, tight turning radiuses are difficult to obtain thanks to the engine's side skirting. Nevertheless, the MTH AEM-7 is the only O scale model that can operate on curves as small as 42 inches. The operating pantographs and other special details add to the realism of the model.
