Nicknamed "toasters" because of their small, shiny, boxy appearance, AEM-7's replaced the mighty GG-1's that once commanded the electrified Northeast Corridor between Washington DC and New York City. Today, AEM-7's pull the popular Amtrak Metroliner between Washington, DC and New York and represent one of the best examples of the future of high speed US rail travel.
