Metropolitan Transportation Authority O Gauge RailKing R-12 4-Car Subway Wash Train w/Proto-Sound 3.0

Manufactured by the American Car and Foundry, the R-12 subway car represented a real break from subway car construction tradition thanks to the infusion of modern conveniences.

First appearing on the Flushing Line in 1948, the R-12s contained overhead ceiling fans, overhead florescent lighting and featured quicker acceleration and more efficient braking systems for smoother more reliable performance. The external appearance was distinguished with front and side roll-sign windows for route identification.

This RailKing subway set features; detailed, illuminated interiors; and transit stop simulation available only from M.T.H., allowing you to program the train to stop automatically at designated station stops. When configured to run on automatic, the R-12 subway stops itself at locations you define and calls out station names that you select in advance; the subway essentially runs itself. And when you program the R-12 for an out-and-back route, it even reverses itself and heads back downtown when it reaches the end of the line - stopping along the way at each station to broadcast the name of the stop and the hustle and bustle of passengers coming and going.
