November 18, 2015 – M.T.H. Electric Trains has published it's first smartphone and tablet mobile app for controlling a DCS layout wirelessly to the Apple App Store and Google Play stores.

The App provides access to the M.T.H. website allowing visitors to quickly find the latest news, search for products, watch product videos and much, much more.

The app can also control a DCS layout from any smartphone or tablet when paired with a DCS Wi-Fi Interface Unit and DCS Track Interface Unit. Both iOS and Android versions are FREE with an option for in-app purchase upgrades.

• The FREE version provides users with control of 3 locomotives and limited features and works with the DCS WIU WiFi Module or the DCS Explorer.
• The $4.99 STANDARD version provides users with full Proto-Sound 2.0 and 3.0 locomotive control when using the DCS WIU WiFi Module.
• The $24.99 PREMIUM version provides the user with full DCS control and more when using the DCS WIU WiFi Module.

The apps communicate with a separately sold DCS Wi-Fi Interface Unit or WIU, or the DCS Explorer. Any Android tablet or phone and Apple iPhone or iPad will bring the DCS Digital Command System to life in a way never thought possible when first paired with a DCS remote control. Any of these smart devices can run the new apps.

The DCS app allows operators to control an entire layout in command or conventional modes without using a DCS handheld remote. A TIU (Track Interface Unit) along with the separately sold DCS WIU is required for app control over the layout. Simply plug the module into the TIU, search for its Wi-Fi signal on the phone or tablet, and begin running a DCS layout in command mode in no time.

App control also requires an update to the DCS Track Interface Unit (TIU) software. The new DCS software, version 5.00, will be available on the M.T.H. Website beginning the week of November 1st. The DCS software release is a free download and will include a new DCS Loader program required to install DCS Version 5.0 into the TIU.
